hemiparesis
Muscular weakness or partial paralysis of one side of the body.
Etiology:
- stroke
- traumatic brain injury
Physical examination:
- pronator drift: hemiparetic side will drift downward & pronate
- finger tapping test: finger tapping is slower in a hemiparetic hand
- forearm rolling test: a hemiparetic arm will remain stationary while the other arm rapidly circles it
Management:
- abobotulinumtoxinA may be of benefit for spastic lower limb after stroke of traumatic brain injury [2]
