Epidemiology:
- most common in children
Pathology:
- benign melanocytic nevus undergoing immunologic elimination by infiltrating lymphocytes
- in some cases may be a reaction to atypical nevus

Clinical manifestations:
- formation of a white ring (halo) around a melancytic nevus
- the halo enlarges & the nevus shrinks
- a depigmented region resembling vitiligo remains
- most frequently on back [1]

Complications:
- multiple halo nevi have been associated with melanoma [1]
Management:
- thorough skin examination
