Haemaphysalis longicornis (Asian longhorned tick)

Epidemiology: - native to eastern Asia - gaining a foothold in the United States - ticks reported in nine states - most frequently New Jersey, Virginia, & West Virginia [1] Pathology: - known to be infected with Rickettsia, Borrelia, Ehrlichia, Anaplasma, & Theileria [1] - also carries Heartland virus & Powassan virus [1]
