intracellular hyaluronan-binding protein 4 (IHABP4, Ki-1/57 intracellular antigen, HABP4)

Function: - role in nuclear functions including remodeling of chromatin & regulation of transcription (putative) - interacts with C-terminus of CHD3 - interacts via its C-terminal region with GNB2L1, interaction abolished by phosphorylation - interacts with TP53/p53 - able to bind hyaluronan; however, its intracellular localization suggests that this interaction may not be relevant in vivo - phosphorylation by phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate (PMA)- activated PKC isoforms at Thr-354 & Thr-375 (probable) results in exit of HABP4 from the nucleus Compartment: - cytoplasm, nucleus - ransported into nuclear compartment in activated leukocytes Alternative splicing: named isoforms=2 Expression: - expressed in brain, heart & kidney > skeletal muscle - expression in activated but not resting leukocytes Pathology: - expressed in a variety of tumor cell lines
