guaifenesin/phenylephrine/phenylpropanolamine (Entex)
Indications:
- symptomatic relief of respiratory conditions with tenacious mucus plugs & congestion
a) sinusitis
b) pharyngitis
c) bronchitis
d) asthma
Contraindications:
1) severe hypertension
2) concurrent administration MAO inhibitor
Dosage:
- adults & children > 12 years of age:
- 1 tab or 10 mL PO every 6 hours
Tabs:
- guaifenesin 200 mg phenylpropanolamine HCl 45 mg phenylephrine 5 mg
Adverse effects:
- not common (1-10%)
- sympathomimetic effects (see phenylpropanolamine, phenylephrine)
