general transcription factor IIH subunit 2; basic transcription factor 2 44 kD subunit; BTF2 p44; general transcription factor IIH polypeptide 2; TFIIH basal transcription factor complex p44 subunit (GTF2H2 BTF2P44)
Function:
- component of the core-TFIIH basal transcription factor
- role in nucleotide excision repair of DNA
- when complexed to CAK, role in RNA transcription by RNA polymerase 2
- the N-terminus interacts with & regulates XPD
- an intact C-terminus is required for a successful escape of RNA polymerase 2 from the promoter
- interacts with XPB, XPD, GTF2H1 & GTF2H3
Structure:
- belongs to the GTF2H2 family
- contains 1 VWFA domain
Compartment: nucleus
Alternative splicing:
- named isoforms=1
- a number of isoforms may be produced
- isoforms may be also produced by incomplete gene duplication
Expression:
- widely expressed
- higher expression in skeletal muscle
