granulomatous cheilitis

Lips infiltrated with non caseating epithelioid granulomas. Pathology: 1) lymphedema produces fluid retention & susceptibility to infection 2) Candidal or Staphylococcal superinfection may be present Clinical manifestations: 1) general lip manifestations - lips generally enlarged - nodular lesion may be present 2) manifestations associated with sarcoidosis - lymphadenopathy - nodular nasal mucosa 3) manifestations associated with Crohn's disease - facial nerve paralysis - fissured tongue Management: topical glucocorticoids
