glycinexylidide (GX)
Alias GX.
Hepatic metabolites of lidocaine include GX & monoethyl- glycinexylidide (MEGX). Renal failure leads to accumulation of GX & MEGX which have little pharmacologic activity, but can produce significant neurotoxicity. Myocardial infarction, CHF, or liver disease may also prolong 1/2life of glycinexylidide.
Drug interactions:
- propranolol, cimetidine increase 1/2life of glycinexylidide
