Indications:
- anti-glomerular basement membrane [GBM] disease
- Goodpasture's syndrome
- tubulointerstitial nephritis
Clinical significance:
1) associated with:
a) anti-glomerular basement membrane [GBM] disease
-> Goodpasture's syndrome (> 90% sensitivity & specificity)
b) tubulointerstitial nephritis
2) the antigen is an epitope from type 4 collagen found in alveolar & glomerular basement membranes
Method: indirect immunofluorescence
Specimen:
1) serum
2) store at -20 degrees C
