Etiology:
1) dementia
2) delirium
3) physical functional impairment
4) environmental barriers (restraints)
5) psychological
a) depression
b) anger
Clinical manifestations:
- inability or unwillingness to get to a toilet
Management:
1) see urinary incontinence for general measures
2) prompted voiding [2,3]
3) exercise program with prompted voiding
4) adaptive equipment (external collection devices)
5) environmental manipulation
6) fluid modification
7) absorbent pads & clothing
8) external collection devices
