front wheel walker (FWW)

Indications: - deconditioning - Parkinson's disease Advantages: 1) good for ataxia/motor planning problems 2) good for Parkinson's patient's; won't fall over backward 3) good for patients with gait too fast for pick-up walker 4) good for patients with difficulty lifting a pick-up walker 5) good for patients who need to limit weight bearing 6) good for patients with balance problems Disadvantages: - less stable than a stationary walker - promotes an abnormal gait - can be cumbersome to maneuver
