Etiology: 1) stroke 2) transient ischemic attack (TIA) Clinical manifestations: 1) motor dysfunction:* a) dysarthria - slurred speech - aphasia b) muscle weakness - hemiparesis - clumsiness b) ataxia d) cranial nerve palsies - dysphagia 2) sensory dysfunction:* - numbness - paresthesias - blindness - monocular blindness (same side) - homonymous hemianopia (opposite visual field) - loss of balance - vertigo - diplopia * motor & sensory dysfunction not exclusive.
