Fluocinolone Topical (Synalar, Synemol, Fluonid, Derma-Smoothe/FS, Synandrone)

Indications: - relief of inflammatory dermatoses (dermatitis) - allergic dermatitis - atopic dermatitis, contact dermatitis [4] - seborrheic dermatitis - dandruff - discoid lupus - granuloma annulare - psoriasis - pruritus, anal pruritus - lichen simplex chronicus - alleriges - cutaneous T-cell lymphoma [4] Dosage: Topical: Apply BID/TID Cream: 0.01%, 0.025%, 0.2%. Ointment: 0.025%. Solution: 0.01%. Shampoo: 0.01%. Oil: (Derma-Smoothe/FS) 0.01% (120 mL) Low potency (0.01%). Occlusive dressings may be used for resistant or severe dermatoses Adverse effects: - uncommon (< 1%) - burning, itching, skin irritation, dryness, folliculitis, hypertrichosis, acne, hypopigmentation, perioral dermatitis, allergic contact dermatitis, skin maceration, secondary infection, skin atrophy, striae, miliaria, intracranial hypertension, hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis suppression, Cushing's syndrome, growth retardation Mechanism of action: - anti-inflammatory; topical glucocorticoid class 4, class 5
