10% of veterans female (projection for 2010) 14% if active military female, 13% of reserves female (2005) Upon entering continium of care, each woman veteran receives a complete physical examination, which includes: 1) pelvic exam 2) breast exam 3) screening for the following a) sleep disorders b) anxiety c) depression d) post traumatic stress disorder e) domestic violence f) sexual abuse g) pregnancy Services provided: - Pap smears, mammography, management of menopause, general reproductive health - pregnancy, infertility, contraception, sterilization Services not provided: - newborn care, in vitro fertilization, abortion 40-60% of women veterans report sexual assault or abuse while on active military duty.
