The emotion associated anticipation or awareness of danger or undesirable event(s). Fear ellicits the stress response & is a motive for violence. Fear can also lead to errors in judgement.
Expression of innate fear & formation of memory for learned fear is controlled by expression of the stathmin gene in the amygdala & in other areas afferent to the amygdala. [3]
Notes:
- conditioned fear in a pregnant female rat may be transmitted to the fetus [3]
