external jugular vein

A paired superficial vein in the neck formed by the junction the retromandibular vein with the posterior auricular vein inferior to the lower border of the parotid gland. It passes inferiorly & superficially in the neck crossing sternocleidomastoid, emptying into the subclavian vein.
