external hordeolum

An external hordeolum (sty) is a bacterial infection of a sebaceous gland (glands of Zeis or Moll) in the eyelid. Clinical manifestations: 1) Symptoms: pain, sensation of foreign body, lacrimation 2) Signs: erythema, tenderness, induration, pustule Management: 1) hot compresses 2) incision & drainage
