Epidemiology: - occurs preferentially in young adults - usually located in vault of nose, often infiltrating cribriform plate Microscopic Pathology: - nodules of neuroblasts within richly vascularized stroma - mitoses variable - Homer Wright rosettes infrequent Immunohistochemistry: - + neurofilament protein - + synaptophysin Differential diagnosis: - neuroendocrine carcinoma Pathology: - tend to infiltrate adjacent structures - may metastasize to regional lymph nodes - histological grade III
