Tradename: Penetrex. Indications: - bacterial infections due to susceptible organisms - urogenital infection - gonorrhea - chancroid - proctitis [3] Dosage: 200-400 PO BID. Tabs: 200, 400 mg. Antimicrobial activity: Gram positive - Streptococcus pneumonia (+/-) - Staphylococcus aureus (MSSA) - Staphylococcus epidermidis Gram negative - Neisseria gonorrhoeae - Haemophilus influenzae - Escherichia coli - Klebsiella species - Enterobacter species - Proteus vulgaris - Acinetobacter species (+/-) - Pseudomonas aeruginosa Drug interactions: -> enoxacin inhibits cyt P450 1A2 -> may increase levels of drugs metabolized by cyt P450 1A2
