- isolated from the midgut of Anopheles gambiae mosquitoes
- nosocomial outbreak has been reported in an intensive care unit in Singapore
- outbreak in Wisconsin 2015-2016
- 48 people confirmed infected in 12 counties with at least 18 deaths
- case report in Michigan March 2016
Pathology:
- reported to cause neonatal meningitis
