Scarring, burning or cutting tissue by means of heat, cold, electric current, ultrasound or caustic chemicals.
Often used in reference to control of hemorrhage from bleeding vessels during surgery.
Notes:
- transmission of SARS-CoV2 from plume (aerosol) of electrocautery during surgery does notoccur because the plume contains no virus [2]
