elder neglect
Refusal of failure to fulfill any part of a person's obligations or duties to an elder.
Including, but not limited to:
-> failure to provide
a) food
b) water
c) clothing
d) shelter
e) personal hygiene
f) medicine
g) comfort
h) personal safety
i) other agreed upon services
Warning signs:
1) dehydration or malnutrition without illness-related cause
2) poor coloration
3) sunken cheeks & eyes
4) poor hygiene, soiled clothing or bedding
5) pressure ulcer(s)
6) weight loss
7) low serum albumin, normocytic or macrocytic anemia
8) lack of necessities
9) lack of personal effects
10) inappropriate administration of medication
