douche

A current of water, gas or vapor directed against a surface or projected into a cavity, especially the vagina. Complications: - douching disturbs the normal vaginal flora & may impair local immune defense. - douching increases risk of ovarian cancer ~ 2-fold Notes: - products used for douching are categorized as cosmetics - regulation of their ingredients is minimal
