DNASCO study

Study characteristics: - 140 men, mean age 57 Groups: 1) low-moderate intensity exercise 2) usual activity Progression of atherosclerosis assessed by carotid artery intimal- medial thickness measured by ultrasonography Results: 1) no difference between groups 2) if statin users ere excluded, exercise group showed significantly less progression of atherosclerosis (0.12 vs 0.20 mm) 3) C-reactive protein levels did not differ between groups
