Clinical manifestations:
- acute change in personality
- two or more personality states that alternate & control a person's behavior
- history of childhood trauma is common
Differential diagnosis:
- dissociative amnesia with dissociative fugue
- PTSD - instrusive symptoms associated with the trauma
