dextromethorphan/promethazine (Phenergan with dextromethorphan)

Tradenames: Phenameth DM, Phenazine w/DM Indications: - temporary relief of coughs & upper respiratory tract symptoms associated with allergy or the common cold Contraindications: - concurrent use of MAO inhibitors Dosage: 1) adults & children > 12 years of age: -> 5-10 mL every 4-6 hours PRN 2) children 6-12 years: 2.5-5 mL every 4-6 hours PRN 3) children 2-6 years: 1.25-2.5 mL every 4-6 hours PRN Syrup: promethazine HCl 6.25 mg & dextromethorphan HBr 15 mg/5 mL (120 mL, 240 mL) Adverse effects: see promethazine & dextromethorphan.
