Pathology: - etiologic agent of dermatophilosis & pitted keratolysis Laboratory: - Dermatophilus congolensis Ab in serum - Dermatophilus congolensis antigen - Dermatophilus congolensis identified by stain - bacterial culture - grows well on sheep-blood enriched agarose media; incubated at a 37 degrees C with 5-10% CO2 - grey-yellow bacteria colonies become visible in 24-48 hours
