Etiology: - fully-immersive virtual reality [1] Pathology: - mismatch between visual, vestibular & proprioceptive senses superimposed upon user expectations * changes in vestibular function with age may play an important role [1] Clinical manifestations: - oculomotor symptoms - eye strain, headache - nausea, sweating - disorientation - dizziness, vertigo Management: - strategies to minimize cybersickness - decreasing duration & intensity of each intervention session - frequent breaks during the virtual reality intervention - increasing the sense of navigational control of virtual reality tasks
