VEGF co-regulated chemokine 1 (C-X-C motif chemokine 17, Dendritic cell & monocyte chemokine-like protein, DMC, CXCL17, VCC1, UNQ473/PRO842)

Function: - role in angiogenesis & possibly in the development of tumors - may be a housekeeping chemokine regulating recruitment of nonactivated blood monocytes & immature dendritic cells into tissues - may play a role in the innate defense against infections Structure: - belongs to the intercrine alpha (chemokine CxC) family Compartment: secreted Expression: - detected in trachea, stomach, lung & skeletal muscle - detected in intestine & in normal & asthmatic lung (at protein level) - detected in fetal lung Pathology: - breast cancer with 3-24 fold up-regulation - up-regulated in duodenal mucosa during acute cholera
