Indications:
- evaluation of fungal infection with Cryptococcus neoformans
Clinical significance:
- cerebrospinal fluid (CSF)
- positive in 90% of CNS infections
- titer > 1:1024
- associated with poor prognosis
- suggests relapse or treatment failure
