Etiology: - autoimmune [2] - idiopathic (most cases) Epidemiology: - rare Pathology: - peripheral nerve hyperexcitability disorder Clinical manifestations: - fasciculations - muscle cramps - myalgia - muscle stiffness - fatigue - anxiety - exercise intolerance - globus sensations - paraesthesias - hyperreflexia Special laboratory: - electromyography: fasciculations only abnormality Management: - anticonvulsants - carbamazepine, gabapentin, pregabalin - immunosuppressive agents - plasmapheresis
