Infectious agent causing pharyngitis.
Epidemiology:
1) 1% of patients with pharyngitis
2) affects teen agers & young adults
Clinical manifestations:
1) pharyngitis
2) fever (80%)
3) cervical lymphadenopathy (67%)
4) scarlatiniform rash (50%)
5) skin ulcers
Laboratory: gram positive cocci (no Loincs found)
Management:
1) penicillin
2) erythromycin
3) tetracycline
