conjunctival sac

The space bounded by the conjunctival membrane between the palpebral & bulbar conjunctiva. Lacrimal fluid is secreted into the conjunctival sac. It is a closed space when the eye is closed. When the eye is open, the conjunctival sac is open anteriorly between the eyelids (palpebral fissure).
