confluent & reticulated papillomatosis

Etiology: - hypotheses - endocrine disturbance - disorder of keratinization - abnormal host reaction to fungi or bacteria - hereditary disorder - variant of amyloidosis [1] Epidemiology: - rare - generally affects young people Clinical manifestations: - often asymptomatic - may experience mild pruritus - reticulated & pigmented macules, patches, & plaques most commonly on the chest - exacerbations & remissions Management: - no treatment is necessary other than for eradication of rash - oral minocycline - topical mupirocin - 70% isopropanol swabbing for hyperpigmentation - weight reduction may be of benefit
