compound nevus

Acquired, benign lesion. Pathology: (histology) - nests of melanocytes in dermis & epidermis - little potential for malignant transformation. Clinical manifestations: 1) papule, slightly elevated to dome shaped 2) 2-8 mm in size 3) tan to brown, uniform in color, but may have hypopigmented "halo" 4) smooth surface, but may become rough with age Management: - observation for change
