Indications:
- widely used in laboratories for the detection of antigen or antibodies
Principle:
- firmly attaching or fixing complement in serum by antigen- antibody complex so that it is no longer available additional complement-mediated functions
- in complement-fixation tests, the 2nd system generally serves as an indicator of complement fixation in the 1st system, i.e. erythrocytes plus a hemolysin
