Indications: - resection of a distal segment of the colon (colectomy) due to a) colorectal carcinoma b) ulcerative colitis c) familial polyposis coli d) diverticulitis e) bowel infarction f) abdominal trauma Procedure: - surgical procedure rerouting the termination of the gastrointestinal tract via connecting the colon to the abdominal skin Complications: - pyoderma gangrenosum at colostomy site in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease) [5]
