Procedure: Combines items from MMSE, 3MS & Hasegawa Dementia Scale - 25 items - range of scores: 0-100 - test administration time: 15 minutes Goals of instruments: - screening instruments for dementia - monitor of disease progression - provide a profile of impairiment among differing domains of cognitive impairment Domains examined: - attention - concentration/mental manipulation - orientation - short-term memory - long-term memory - language - visual construction - list fluency - abstraction & judgement Sensitivity: 91%* Specificity: 95%* Sensitivity & Specificity for Cognitive Impairment. Advantages: - ease of administration - relatively quick compared to full neuropsychological battery - higher score range minimizes ceiling effect of MMSE - examines several cognitive domains, provides domain scores - more refined scoring system for pentagons - translated versions for other languages retain contextual contexts & same total score range Notes: Translated versions of CASI - Japanese - Chinese - Spanish - Vietnamese
