Function:
- the cingulate cortex facilitates limbic motivational mapping of extrapersonal space.
Structure: -the anterior cingulate cortex connects with the nucleus accumbens, globus pallidus & thalamus
Pathology:
- interruption of cingulate gyrus connections results in
- apathy
- poverty of speech
- sometimes akinetic mutism
