chronic idiopathic ataxic neuropathy
Clinical manifestations:
1) slow progressive
2) distal paresthesias
3) sensory ataxia, pseudoathetosis
4) areflexia
5) strength is normal
6) marked loss of propioception
7) loss of kinesthetic sensation distal to proximal
8) paresthesias common
9) uncomfortable pulling or stretching sensation
10) often confined to bed or wheel chair
Laboratory:
1) serum IgM monoclonal gammopathy common
2) polyclonal gammopathy common
Management:
- response to immunosuppressants is poor
