Indications: - cardiopulmonary resuscitation Procedure: - place heel of one hand on chest over sternum with lower edge of hand at upper border of manubrium (guestimate) - place heel of second hand on top of first hand - alternatively grasp the wrist of the first hand with the second hand - extend elbows (staighten arms) & position shoulders directly above hands - depth: 2.0-2.4 inches, 5-6 cm - rate: 100-120/minute - allow recoil (chest/lung expansion) after each compression - remove weight/pressure on chest between compressions without repositioning hands - recoil & compression duration should be approximately equal - compression to ventilation ratio 1 person rescue = 30 compressions to 2 breaths - compression to ventilation ratio 2 person rescue (adult) = 30 compressions to 2 breaths - compression to ventilation ratio 2 person rescue (child) = 15 compressions to 2 breaths
