Structure: - one of 4 interconnected cavities (ventricles) in the brain continuous with the central canal of the spinal cord (from the 3rd ventricle) allowing for flow of CSF - lined with ependyma a specialised form of epithelium Function: - production of CSF - bathes & cushions the brain & spinal cord within their bony confines
