Genetics:
- associated with defects in caytaxin gene
Clinical manifestations:
1) marked psychomotor retardation
2) prominent nonprogressive cerebellar dysfunction
- nystagmus
- intention tremor
- dysarthria
- wide-based ataxic gait
3) hypotonia is present from early childhood
