cephalopelvic disproportion

Etiology: - large baby due to: - hereditary factors - diabetes - postmaturity - multiparity - abnormal fetal positions - small Pelvis - abnormally shaped pelvis Epidemiology: - 1 in 250 pregnancies - 65 % of women diagnosed with cephalopelvic disproportion are able to deliver vaginally in subsequent pregnancies Pathology: - occurs when a baby's head or body is too large to fit through the mother's pelvis Special laboratory: - ultrasound used to estimate fetal size Management: - C-section
