Tradename: Cefobid. 3rd generation cephalosporin.
Dosage: 2-4 g IV every 12 hours.

Adverse effects:
1) bleeding secondary to coagulopathy (in elderly)
2) increased serum transaminases (ALT, AST)
3) eosinophilia
4) positive directs Coomb's test may occur
Drug interactions:
1) coadministration with alcohol may produce a disulfiram-like reaction
2) cefoperazone may enhance the effect of warfarin
Laboratory:
1) specimen:
a) serum
b) keep specimen on ice-water
c) centrifuge at 4 degrees C
d) remove cells as soon as possible
e) freeze at -70 degrees C until assayed
