CD2; T-cell surface antigen CD2; T-cell surface antigen T11/Leu-5; LFA-2; LFA-3 receptor; erythrocyte receptor; rosette receptor (SRBC)

Function: - interacts with LFA-3 & CD48/BCM1 to mediate adhesion between T-cells & other cell types - implicated in the triggering of T-cells, the cytoplasmic domain is implicated in the signaling function - may associate with lck [5] - interacts with CD2AP (putative) - interacts with PSTPIP1 Structure: - contains 1 Ig-like C2-type domain (immunoglobulin-like) - contains 1 Ig-like V-type domain (immunoglobulin-like) Compartment: membrane Expression: - thymocytes ~95% - almost all peripheral T cells - NK cells 80-90% - thymic B cells ~50%
