carpometacarpal joint

The synovial joints between the carpal & metacarpal bones. These articulations are plane type except that of the thumb, which is saddle shaped. Innervation: - anterior interosseous branch of the median nerve - posterior interosseous branch of the radial nerve - dorsal & deep branches of the ulnar nerve Arterial supply: - dorsal & palmar metacarpal arteries - deep carpal & deep palmar arches
