A measure of atherosclerosis independently associated with cardiovascular risk
Genetics:
- associated with variation in PPARG (type 1)
- 35 to 45% of the variability in multivariable-adjusted CIMT is explained by genetic factors
Clinical significance:
- adds only a small amount of information to that obtained by the Framingham Risk Score [2]
