Uses:
- elephant tranquilizer
- often sold on the streets as heroin [1]
Adverse effects:
- opiate overdose
- multiple doses of naloxone may be required
- lethal dose for humans unknown [1]
- involved in 11% of deaths from opioid overdose
Mechanism of action:
- synthetic opioid ~100x as potent as fentanyl [1]
