A general term used in reference to pathological events of cardiovascular nature, i.e. - myocardial infarction, acute coronary syndrome - stroke, transient ischemic attack Epidemiology: - burden of cardiovascular-risk-factors is lowest in low-income countries - highest incidence of major cardiovascular events is also in low-income countries* [1] * editorialist speculates that improved healthcare delivery & access to high-quality care in low- and middle-income countries may account for this paradox [1] Pathology: - atheroembolic events - atherosclerosis - arterial thromboembolism
